About our website

NOTE: Hey all – this is the welcome and overview information that used to be on our homepage, but is now presented here. As we move forward in the semester, the homepage is probably best used for more timely information, like updates, announcements, and homework reminders.

This information moved on September 8, 2020

This is our website for our English 110 class on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 8am-9:15am.

In this site, you will find all you need for this course. All of our materials are available in the “Content” page, so that will be where you can check for any needed materials for this course. There you will find our course calendars for each phase, links to readings and videos, assignment prompts (descriptions), and links to various handouts and worksheets. We will go over all this in class.

One thing I want to highlight is that this site is meant to be your one-stop for this class – though there will be some things we will need to do in Blackboard. The site is designed to work well on laptops, tablet computers, and especially smartphones. It has been my observation, both as a student and as a teaching assistant, that many students view their courses often on phones. Thus, I have optimized the content to work well on a smartphone. It is my hope that you find this site easy to use wherever you want to study: in bed, in a park, on the train, or at your desk.

This site is largely complete as is, but I will continue to add functionality as needed, and I will update you to all changes to content or usage as we move forward. For example, I will be adding the ability to comment on readings right on the website. These comments may from time to time be an assignment and you will be asked to comment online. More on this as we move forward.

Finally, I want this homepage to be a spot where you come for updates and notices for each class as we move forward. I will be creating update modules that will be placed at the top of the homepage.
